The Wall

If I had thought of it at the time, this blog would have been a "Before", "During", and "After", picture story of my summer landscaping project. However, since I did not think of it until now, it is going to have to be an "Almost done" and "after", picture story of my summer landscaping project. As you cannot see, in the "before" picture, that is not above, we had a nicely sloped front yard. It made it difficult to grow grass and keep it green. (The slope and the horrible rocky soil that is.) So when we saw retaining wall blocks on sale earlier this summer, we decided to buy some and build a wall to level out the front yard. The pictures above show the wall basically completed.(that one last block did go in the wall on the other end.) By GOD's grace, we bought the EXACT number of blocks needed to complete the wall. (258 if you are interested) I did not have to buy anymore to finish, I did not have a single block remaining, and the wall ended exactly where I wanted it to. Now all that is left to do in the pics above is to rake out the dirt that is piled up in the front yard and make a flat (flatter than it was) lawn. It will still have a little slope to it, but nothing like it used to. Now here is how it looks today after raking out most of the dirt.
The piles that still remain are chunks of sod from the old lawn that I need to get rid of. (So it you need any old chunks of sod, I'll make you a great deal!) So now I guess to call it an "After" picture, there would need to be green grass covering the lawn. My bad. I guess it is an "Almost done", "close to done", and "I see light at the end of the tunnel" picture story of my summer landscaping project. Stay tuned to this station to see the finished product.(hopefully soon.) So if anyone has a need or desire to build a retaining wall to level some yard,

I have heard they are very helpful with that sort of stuff at those big box home improvement centers. Good luck and have fun!
